More Nursery Progress

Well, hi! Hope you’re doing well! I’m back today with some nursery updates for you. Let’s get to it!

I told you in my last post that we were looking to get the carpet in the nursery replaced. We got some estimates at a couple of places, and decided on a carpet remnant store near our home. It was a pretty simple process: we walked in, found some carpet we liked, made an appointment and a few days later had two nice men in our home installing the carpet for us. This late in the pregnancy, I was pretty opposed to doing it ourselves. ;) Plus, with all the supplies we would have needed for just this one room, it turned out that it wouldn’t have been worth it cost-wise anyhow.

Here’s a shot of the closet with the new carpet:

It’s plush and really soft compared to the berber carpet we had in there before. Much better for little knees once baby starts crawling!

Once the carpet was installed, it was time to start adding furniture in! While my husband’s cousin was visiting us a few weeks ago, he was so helpful and painted baby’s dresser for us:

Look at that lil photo bomb. :) Silly kitty.

The dresser was my mom’s when she was growing up, then it got passed down to me, and it will now be my daughter’s. Love. That rug is probably not going to stay there, but it is one we got from Ikea.

Then, I added this little collage over the dresser (which we’re also going to be using as a changing table):

The frames are from Etsy — except the one in the upper right. It’s from Ikea. I made the “Every good & perfect gift…” print on PowerPoint and printed it out on regular paper. The rest of the frames will hold pictures of the baby once she’s here. :D

We also got a little toy box to go in between her built-ins:

Toy Box

It’s the KidKraft Austin Toy Box from Amazon in white. I got those little stick-on flowers from Walmart for 99 cents. I tried to make them look like these vinyl wall stickers that Pottery Barn used to sell for $85:

I’ll take the 99 cent ones, please. The fabric on top of the toy box was for me to get an idea of how it would look if I made a cushion with it. I wasn’t too crazy about the color once I saw it in this space, so I’ll probably get a less-bright pink one later on.

Next up, we got a couple $40 Billy bookcases from Ikea and made this closet organizer:

I really like the Billys. The quality is great, they were inexpensive, and so much easier than trying to build ourselves.

Last weekend, my mom came for my first baby shower (yes, I am very spoiled and will be having a second shower this weekend!) and gave us our gorgeous crib and bedding! Here’s the link for the crib… It’s from Amazon, too.

Since nowadays you’re supposed to have “nothing but the baby” in the crib, we’re not doing bumper pads or any of that stuff. So, I chose to go with this beautiful pink sheet and white ruffled crib skirt. I know I need to wash and iron them before she arrives (and, probably before I post it on the Internet for all to see…), but I was dying to get an idea of how it all looks together.

White Crib

Love. Just love.

So, that’s basically what we’ve done so far! Almost done. We’re 5 weeks out from our due date, and getting more and more excited to meet her every day.

On another note, I know I’ve been very sporadic about posting (that would drive me batty if I was a reader), so if you’d like to be notified when new posts are up, please join us on Facebook, Twitter or you can subscribe to receive a free email alert. I really appreciate your support!
